Nokia D1C Android Smartphone to Cost Rs 10,000

Nokia is preparing to launch three Android smartphones in 2017, presumably in the first quarter of the year. The chances are that we will hear about these phones some time closer to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in late February. Of these, the Nokia Android phone that is likely to be most affordable will be the rumoured Nokia D1C. According to the latest leaks, the phone will come in two variants. The base variant with 2GB RAM will cost around $150, which will be slightly less than Rs 10,000 in India. The other version, with 3GB RAM, will likely cost $200, which may mean that the phone could be sold in India at a price of under Rs 15,000.

At this price, the D1C should give consumers a compelling reason to switch to Nokia. Although there are other brands selling quite good phones at this price point -- Moto phones come to the mind -- the brand Nokia when offered at aggressive prices can be quite formidable. The D1C, although will have fairly modest hardware compared to something like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, is likely to offer consumers the same old Nokia build quality and camera performance that once made Nokia a household name.

However, the report itself says that this price leak is not from their usual sources so it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. The specifications in the report are more in line with what has already been leaked earlier. According to NPU, Nokia D1C will sport a Snapdragon 430 processor, Adreno 505 GPU, Android 7.0 Nougat and will come in two display sizes; one will be a 5-inch Full HD version and another will be 5.5-inch Full HD.
