Gionee P7 with 5-inch display, VoLTE support launched at Rs 9,999

Gionee P7 is powered by 1.3GHz quad core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card).
Gionee P7, a budget smartphone, has been introduced in India at Rs 9,999. The 4G-enabled smartphone supports VoLTE and CDMA. It features a 5-inch HD IPS display with Soda lime protection. It is available in Gold, White and Grey colour variants. The smartphone packs several inbuilt features like text recognition in pictures, GIF creator, and intelligent photo crop.

The Gionee P7 smartphone features a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB onboard storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card.
In the photography department, the Gionee P7 sports an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash. Up front, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel selfie camera with Screen flash, a feature which enables one to click decent selfies even in low light conditions. Making sure everything ticks is a 2,300mAh battery that is claimed to offer standby time of up to 259 hours. On the software front, the Gionee P7 runs on Android Lollipop with Amigo 3.2 running atop. For connectivity, the Gionee P7 smartphone comes with options like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

For its price and specifications, the Gionee P7 is sure to face tough competition in the smartphone market. These days, with the spread of 4G service by Reliance Jio, many smartphone companies are focusing on the entry-level market and launching affordable 4G VoLTE-enabled smartphones. Reliance Digital already has a slew of smartphones with 4G VoLTE enabled at very cheap and affordable prices. The company also holds the title of having the cheapest 4G VoLTE smartphone priced at Rs 2,999 which is the Reliance Digital LYF Flame 6. Other than that, two smartphones that the Gionee Pioneer P7 will face competition from include the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the Lenovo K6 Power.


Xiaomi’s front-runner the Redmi Note 3 is priced at Rs 9,999 and features a 5.5-inch full HD display. Under its hood, runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage which is expandable up to 256GB. For photography, the Redmi Note 3 comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based MIUI 7 and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery.
Lenovo’s recently launched K6 Power smartphone is priced at Rs 9,999 and features a 5-inch full HD IPS display. At the heart of the smartphone runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. The Lenovo K6 Power comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. In the photography department, the smartphone sports a 13-meagpixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Lenovo K6 Power runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Vibe UI running atop. Gionee is working on a new device called GN50005, which popped up on Chinese certification website Tenaa. The listed device supports dual SIM on standby and LTE. It sports a 5-inch TFT display with HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) and is powered by a 1.25GHz Quad-core processor, expected to be of MediaTek or Snapdragon. The phone comes with 3GB RAM and 16GB of on board storage, which will be expandable to 128GB via a microSD slot.
